Every book on your shelf got there because someone chose it — a cover caught your eye, a friend pressed it into your hands, a review convinced you, or you simply picked it up and read the first page and that was that. At Simile Press we are trying to make books worth choosing. This section is for the people who read them.
The Catalogue
Our catalogue is growing — fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and issues of VELDT, our handmade South African fiction magazine. Every title is available as a digital edition. Print editions are available on demand — no issue or title ever goes out of print. If you want a physical copy of something we have published, we will print you one.
Subscribe
The best way to stay close to what Simile Press is publishing is the newsletter — new titles, VELDT issue announcements, author features, and reading recommendations, sent when there is something worth saying. No noise. No schedule for the sake of a schedule.
If you want to support the press more directly, subscribing to VELDT means every issue lands with you as soon as it is available — in print, digital, or both.
Author Profiles
The writers behind the books. Short profiles of every author Simile Press publishes — who they are, where they come from, what drives their work, and what else they have written. A good author profile is the beginning of a reading life, not a biography. We try to write them that way.

Events

Found something you love? Tell someone. The best thing you can do for a small independent press — and for the writers it publishes — is put a good book in front of a reader who needs it.
